Satellite TV meets CDMA EVDO on new Samsung B200
Samsung Electronics will showcase its third satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) phone, the SCH-B200, during the MIPTV/MILIA in Cannes, France from 11 -15 April, following the release of the SCH-B100 and SCH-B130.
Samsung's new B200 boasts a horizontal screen that allows users to easily view multimedia, like DMB services, digital pictures and games. This is the first model to adopt Samsung's innovative "slide and rotation" form factor, where the screen slides up and rotates horizontally.
Users can watch video through the phone's 260,000-color, 2.2-inch wide LCD screen, with the option of connecting an external TV through a TV-out connector.
Its large capacity battery (1300mAh) powers the phone with continuous screen on for more than three hours, resolving the battery-depletion problem that has plagued DMB phones. The measures 106.5 x 52 x 24.9 mm and weighs 120 g.
The B200 has a built-in 2-megapixel camera, with flash, allowing users to take pictures or record videos (MPEG4). The phone offers a variety of multimedia functions, including an MP3 player and video viewer.
The phone also offers a file-viewing function that allows access to a variety of files, such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Memory can be expanded with TransFlash memory cards.
Samsung Electronics plans to release the B200 within the first half of this year. The company launched Korea's first satellite DMB phone (SCH-B100) in January of this year and has recently completed the development of a terrestrial DMB phone (SPH-B1200).
