To avail the DBS system and all its advantages, a
subscriber needs to install certain equipment no
matter what the scheme is. Foremost, a round dish of
18 inches or an oval 18 x 20 inch dish must be
installed. A Satellite receiver that resembles a DVD
player cum cable box is required for the reception
of the many channels subscribed for. Additionally,
if requested the receiver comes with an in-built
recorder that provides for digital recording.
Each satellite TV provider offers
a range of satellite TV receivers from standard to
DVR to High Definition at different prices.
Additionally, in order to reap the benefits of
certain packages, a subscriber is required to have a
specific type of receiver. For instance, subscribing
for America's Everything Pak from dish network
requires a viewer to have a Dish 500 system
installed to avail channels like HBO Latino.
Therefore before you buy your
satellite receivers and equipment make them future
proof. i.e. in the future if u plan to subscribe
higher programming packages or HDTV programming
packages then get a receiver that is capable of
those features, thus you will save money by not
replacing you receiver with a new time every time u
choose higher and better features available
The advantage with both Dish
Network and DirecTV are that unlike cable once you
move to another part of the city or country you
won't have to depend on the area's cable provider to
set you up. With satellite, once you've bought the
equipment, you own it and no matter where you are,
if you've got satellite transmission within sky's
reach, you've got satellite entertainment all the
way.
